Stabbursdalen River

Today there was about 50cm fresh snow, piling up to over 1m snowbanks at some windy spots. We are back at the camping space. The Stabbursdalen River is frozen for the first time in many years. We had to dig through thick snow to listen to what's flowing underneath the ice.

This will hurt

We are on the frozen Porsanger Fjord doing recordings form the ice below. This storm is gonna meet us soon. And it will hurt.

Being in Lakselv

We needed to buy tools and other stuff for our field recordings, so we drove to Lakselv. Inside the car it was quiet and warm.

After the storm

Heading back to the car, Parker took a closer look at Springer.

Shelter

This rotten generator came in very handy as a shelter to cower behind during the first snow storm today.

Stabbursdalen Camping

Meet Geir Aarskog from Stabbursdalen Camping, next to the Stabbursdalen National Park. He is also the initiator of the Light Park project, which should start end of this year. The idea behind the park is to experience aspects of nature by means of light during the dark period of the year, therefore the Sámi culture will also play a big role.

Challenge

Doing the sound recordings is a challenge but worth the pain.
