One end of the mining railroad. The line is currently being restored, new railway sleepers are lying around.

The mine
The open pit iron mine of Bjørnevatn started in 1906 and was closed in 1996. They are planning to re-open it in mid-2009.

Vis-a-vis
We don't have a visa and can't cross the border, so we drove as far as we could. Hope to take the route to Murmansk next time. Photo shows the view towards Russia.
